North Sydney Cellars, one of the leading independent wine merchants in Australia, was set up by Ben Ryan and David Cochran in an old butcher's shop in North Sydney in the early 1990's. In 2007 we moved a few meters up the road from our shop in the MLC Building to the refurbished Commonwealth Bank on the corner of Miller and Berry Streets, and hatched a plan to open an exciting new North Sydney wine bar. "Drink better wine", the cellars motto, became the name of the new restaurant, café and wine bar. Motivated by a trip to Paris more than 10 years earlier, the decision was made that the bottle shop and the bar should share a space, and customers should be able to enjoy any bottle of wine from the cellars without paying any corkage or mark up to drink it in the restaurant. Sydney's first "wine bar at bottle shop prices" was born.

Great wine deserves great food so, fresh from 2 1/2 years living and working in France, Chef Josh Cook set about creating a delicious, seasonal, wine-friendly menu based on the best fresh local produce. Drink Better Wine has now established itself as the best restaurant and wine bar in North Sydney, whether you want to book a breakfast, lunch or dinner or just drop by for a casual coffee, tea, or glass of wine and plate of cheese.
